Housing

A hand up, not a hand-out. Through our regular housing programs, Habitat aims to provide dignified housing for all by encouraging our homepartner families to contribute their own labor called ‘sweat equity’ and repay the cost of their home through an affordable payment plan, enabling Habitat to build more homes and help more families in need. In partnership with donors and volunteers, we support these families by improving their access to basic social services such as clean water and sustainable energy.

Community Development

Empower communities. Integrating a holistic, community-led approach, not only do we help construct essential community facilities but also strengthen and capacitate our homepartners to become self-reliant in addressing their community’s socio-economic needs. We empower our communities towards sustainability by initiating programs and trainings on organizational development, capacity-building and skills development, solid waste management, community enterprise and livelihood, and financial literacy.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Response

Build back better, safer, stronger. We utilize our core competency in shelter to provide assistance to vulnerable families and communities in times of crisis and disaster. To aid in their pathway to resilience, our support can range from providing trainings on community-based disaster risk management and contingency planning to distributing shelter repair kits and WASH kits to permanent housing solution and comprehensive community development intervention. Together with our partners, donors, and volunteers, we rise to help rebuild homes, hope, dreams, and lives.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

Health begins at home. We engage the whole community, especially children, pregnant women, and indigenous peoples, in increasing their awareness and improving their behavior on hygiene and sanitation not only to prevent diseases but also to boost their health and overall well-being. With the help of field experts and WASH consultants, we have developed a training module that would help the community understand the importance of water conservation, proper hygiene, and sanitation in creating a clean, safe, healthy environment for families to live and thrive in.

Youth & Volunteer Engagement

Shape shelter advocates. At Habitat, every helping hand matters. That’s why we mobilize volunteers from different sectors and the youth to become change-makers and Legacy Builders. From building homes and supporting communities to interacting with our homepartners, we offer a variety of opportunities for a fulfilling volunteer experience. We also train the youth to become community leaders through the Leadership Academy and the annual Habitat Young Leaders Build season. Through these initiatives, we aim to amplify their voice to advocate for decent shelter for all.
